The Clock Tower was a project that languished for several years after the steel had been erected. The firm was selected to design the new tower cladding. The owner wanted a metal cladding system which was very different from the plaster of the existing building. The Clock Tower was designed under a very tight budget. The form uses the vocabulary of the campus to create a monument that rises from the Student Union base but speaks to the image the campus. The base contains light fixtures that highlight the tower at night when the university has a large student population. A sound system chimes out the hour and special music for graduation.
