| The
Discovey Land Childcare Center exemplifies the importance the firm places
on the relationship between a building and the impact on its surroundings.
A required site wall became an opportunity for the architect to explore
the interaction of differing materials such as concrete blocks, stone
and metal mesh screens. These materials were manipulated through a series
of solids and voids, orchestrating an interesting and active facade
to the street while providing a protective barrier for the Center. Much
care was taken in the design of the interiors of the Childcare Center.
Warm woods and playful colors create an atmosphere of home and comfort.
The careful planning of scale and proportion of built-in cabinetry,
furniture as well as spaces themselves make this project incredibly
functional as well as inviting. |
