The Technology Production Center is located in a mall, The Village at Indian Hill, that Pomona USD is converting is a joint use facility of education and retail. It is part of the District’s model of an effective, multi-level education community, serving the larger audience. The Center consists of 4 spaces: a transitional entry zone; a wireless, interactive work area; and a seminar/training lab that is divisible. The design incorporates a well scaled spaces, framed by the central space’s curved ceiling, wood paneled walls and counters and uses soft lighting to provide physiological and psychological comfort. Introduction of curves, lines, oval and their suggestion of high tech images bring a dynamic to the spaces, but does not reinforce a technologically forbidding atmosphere. The facility is a balanced and graceful space rather than a strong, but fast fading image amid the retail environment.
